The national agency for chicken production has set the most ambitious production target in years - 7.5 per cent greater than base quota for the six-week production period from November 16 to January 10.
Chicken Farmers of Ontario said “demand for chicken
continues to be strong. This is supported by competing meat prices, steady per
capita consumption and overall positive economic indicators.”
Ontario’s increase set by the national agency is 7.6 per
cent above base.
Ontario also announced changes that provide more chicken for
new entrants and niche-market processing companies.
