Foodland integrity preserved

The Foodland Ontario logo will continue to be used exclusively for eggs produced on Ontario farms.

Harry Pelissero, general manager of the Egg Farmers of Ontario marketing board, circulated a proposal to egg-grading stations recently indicating a desire to allow up to 10 per cent out-of-province eggs to be included in cartons with the Foodland Ontario logo.

In answer to a question at a recent zone meeting, Pelissero said that proposal is dead.

He declined to elaborate when asked why.

That is, of course, the key question - why the proposal was made in the first place.
