Roger Pelissero, vice-chairman of Egg Farmers of Ontario and chairman of Egg Farmers of Canada hardly needs to farm.
His compensation from the national agency has just been upped to $5,500 per month.
And then there’s his income from serving as a director of the Ontario egg board which doled out $525,000 in per diems last year.
How much he got I can’t even guess, but I’m sure it’s more than farmers pay temporary foreign workers who actually break a sweat doing their work.
Who needs to farm? Ah, but with egg-farming profits so high that it costs a fortune to buy quota to get into the business, I'm sure he's not lining up at the local food bank.
