Seaboard Foods plans to open a 60-barn hog farm in Greeley County, Kan.,
in October.
Each barn will house about 1,000 hogs, according to a report in the Garden City Telegram.
Construction of the barns, which began in March, is complete, and the
company is stocking the barns with hogs through the first week of October.
Seems a bit of patience would have been in order because Seaboard could have bought Puratone Corp. of Niverville, Man., or Big Sky Farms of Humboldt, Sask., out of their bankruptcies for pennies on the dollar.
