The Canadian Food Inspection Agency was the first to identify Listeria in Reser's salads, prompting recalls of salads that have been sold all across the United States and Canada.
Monday the U.S. government expanded its recall to include everything made at the plant in Topeka, Kansas, up to Oct. 26. The previous recalls covered products made from Sept. 5 to Oct. 9.
The current expansion of the recalls came after inspectors
found Listeria on surfaces in the plant where all salads might pick up the
food-poisoning bacteria.
The recalls involve chicken, ham and beef salads, pasta and
potato salads, spinach and cole slaw salads, cranberry and strawberry salads
and many more.
All bear a plant code number 20.

Usually it is the CFIA reacting to recalls that begin in the United States, as happened with E. coli 0157:H7 in XL Foods' beef shipped from Alberta, so it's nice to see that the CFIA for once was ahead on something.
