Poland has had African Swine Fever in its wild boar population
of about 120,000 pigs and for four years has been trying to hunt them to
extinction.
Yet Canada has continued to allow pork imports from Poland.
Federal trade records show that last year Canada imported more
than $25 million worth of pork from Poland.
Among things that are not clear is whether the disease has
stricken farmed hog herds in Poland and if Canadians imported any feed
ingredients from Poland that might contain the virus.
