The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a warning to food processors that they need to renew their Safe Foods Canada Act licences, some of them before Jan. 15.
Those who fail to get renewals might lose their ability to ship foods out of the province and to export markets.
Licence holders can deal with renewals online.
“Submit your request for renewal as soon as possible to allow sufficient processing time,” the CFIA said in its alert message issued this week.
“You can do so up to 120 days before the expiry date of your licence. No matter how early you apply, your renewed SFC licence will be valid for two years from the original expiry date.”
