What farm retirement crisis

The news media has seized on a report from the Arkell Institute at the University of
Guelph, funded by the Royal Bank of Canada, that says there is a looming crisis because so many farmers are reaching retirement age.

So how many farmers do you know who retired at age 65?

I think the bigger issue is the ongoing situation that limits entrants to those whose parents own a farm. It's too expensive for those who haven't got a farm inheritance to get into farming.

We are heading into a repeat of the "landed gentry" and widespread rural poverty that exists in South and Central America and existed in Europe hundreds of years ago. That situation results in social unrest, even revolutions.
