Joe Abate of Arthur has died.
He owned Abate Packers Ltd., was president of Ontario Meat and Poultry Ontario from 2011 to 2013 and past president until 2017 when he was honoured with a lifetime membership award,
The association wrote on its website that “Joe will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his warmth, kindness, and the genuine connections he forged with colleagues and friends. His presence brought a sense of camaraderie and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
In the farming community, he pioneered service to niche markets, such as rabbits, goats and sheep.
