Judge bans dicamba

United States District Court judge David Bury in Arizona has cancelled the registration of dicamba-based herbicides, reports Reuters news agency.

The United States Environmental Improvement Agency registration was filed in 2020.

The ruling is based on concerns that the herbicide drifts away from the fields that are sprayed for weed control.

The ruling affects Bayer’s XtendiMax, BASF’s Enginia and Sygnenta’s Tavium, commonly used herbicides on U.S. farms.

Bayer soybeans that resist dicamba-based herbicide are the second-most planted soybeans in the United States.

The companies said they disagreed with the ruling and were waiting for direction from the EPA, which said it was reviewing the decision.
