According to more than one source I have tapped, Ontario's two largest egg-grading companies are occasionally re-selling eggs that retailers return because they are approaching or beyond the Best Before label date.
Gray Ridge and Burnbrae sometimes put these returned eggs back into the system to be re-sold as Grade A eggs.
Where, pray tell, is the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, which has a responsibility to ensure that Grade A eggs are, indeed, Grade A?
Where, pray tell, is the Egg Farmers of Ontario marketing board which has an obvious interest, including a government mandate, to ensure that the market has an adequate supply of WHOLESOME eggs?
And why do egg farmers continue to sit on their hands when they could surely afford to establish their own co-operative so they could have control over the quality of eggs on the market?
