The price cut Ontario’s chicken farmers are taking this week
is more than double the 3.21 cents per kilogram the marketing board has cited
in implementing a new feed-conversion pricing formula.
The price drop for the most popular category – 1.1 to 1.6
kilograms live weight - is 6.9
cents per kilogram.
The price change is the result of negotiations between the
Chicken Farmers of Ontario marketing board and the Association of Ontario
Chicken Processors.
The board posted pricing on its website with access to the
public this week. When the feed-conversion price cut was first posted, only
those with a password could access the bottom-line pricing data.
