Chicken quota holders in districts one through five will be
holding elections for directors when they meet over the first 11 days of
December.
That’s half of the board of directors, and elections are to
two-year terms.
There are several issues in the chicken industry, including
efforts by small-scale producers to have the maximum that can be raised without
quota from 300 to 2,500 a year and the long-standing frustration to gain the
right from the national agency to grow enough chickens to satisfy demand in
Ontario, especially for small-scale processors who are eager to develop and
serve niche and specialty markets.
The district meetings are closed to the public.
The existing directors for the five districts are:
District 1: Adrian Rehorst
District 2: John Maaskant
District 3: Murray Booy
District 4: Henk Lise
District 5: Henry Zantingh,
board chairman
