Two families with strong roots in Ontario agriculture are
being honoured as philanthropists of the year.
Ken and Marilyn Murray are honoured for contributing their
name, time and money to many causes, especially in education and the
environment. Many of those donations are connected to the University of Guelph.
Murray is former general manager of J.M. Schneider Inc. of
Kitchener.
The Lyle S. Hallman Foundation is honoured for its support
of social causes, especially youth and donations to Lutherwood.
The Hallman family is one of Ontario’s largest holders of
turkey and chicken quota and owns and operates a number of nursing homes.
They are also prominent donors to health care and education initiatives,
many of them connected to the University of Waterloo.
The honours are from the Association of Professionals Golden
Horseshoe Chapter.
