Canadian pumpkin exports soaring

Exports of Canadian pumpkins are soaring this month.

The reason is wet weather in the United States that has reduced the harvest there.

A farmer in Missouri is importing pumpkins from Quebec because 40 to 60 per cent of his crop was wiped out.

It also helps that the Canadian dollar is low, making Canadian pumpkins relatively cheap for American buyers.

Darrell Theis, co-owner of Theis Farms in Missouri, is mentioned in an article by Canadian Press which says he has bought 40,000 pounds of Canadian pumpkins this fall.
