U.S. to ban chlorpyrifos

The United States Environmental Protection Agency has announced its intention to ban chlorpyrifos insecticides, commonly marketed as Lorsban.

There is no word yet from the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency about any change in its registrations for chlorpyrifos.

Last year it extended registration to onion bulbs. It is registered for use on a large number of root-vegetable crops, such as rutabagas, and for barley, wheat, oats, triticale and other cereal crops.
