Private bill backs ag advisors

A backbencher is coming to the defence of certified crop advisors and professional agrologists who will lose their ability to advise farmers on the use of neonicitinoid seed treatment pesticides.

The government bans those who are affiliated with companies that market neonicitinoids, and that’s all but 80 of the certified crop advisors and professional agrologists in Ontario.

Lisa Thompson, member of the legislature for Huron-Bruce has introduced a private member’s bill to retain their right to advise farmers who want to hire them.

Thompson says farmers should have the freedom to work with whomever they want.

What this province needs is not foolish restrictions on CCAs and PAgs, but restrictions on foolish politicians.
