Seaweed touted as hog feed

Seaweed helps pigs grow, including some reduction in harmful bacteria.

John O’Doherty, professor of monogastric nutrition at University College Dublin, said seaweed contains lots of properties which were beneficial to animal health, including vitamins, minerals and fatty acids.


Seaweed extract also contains a glucose called laminarin improves the gut structure of piglets, reducing both the risk of scouring during weaning and the amount of E.coli.
