Hog truck driver faces charges

The 25-year-old truck driver from Brantford whose rig crashed near the entrance of Fearman’s Pork plant in Burlington has been charged with careless driving.

Forty-two pigs died and many of the 180 on the load were euthanized.

Halton Police also arrested and charged Anita Kranjc, 49, of Toronto, with obstruction and breach of recognizance.

She harassed workers trying to corral pigs and shepherd them to the packing plant.

She was in court two days earlier in Toronto, testifying because a hog farmer and trucker has charged her with mischief for repeatedly trying to provide drinks of water to pigs being hauled into the now-closed Quality Packers plant in Toronto.
