Even though an agreement was reached that Ontario would get
a larger share of increases than other provinces, it ended the year producing
only 2.5 per cent more than during 2015.
The agreement didn’t kick in until the year was well
underway.
Total supplies available to Canadians increased by 23.4
million kilograms to 1,337.6 million kilograms.
Imports declined by 10.3 per cent, possibly because the
Canadian Border Inspection Agency caught cheats who declared their imports were
spent fowl, but were really broilers. Six were caught and penalized, but the
names are a government secret.
