Marthanne Robson has been appointed to a three-year term on the Canada
Agricultural Review Tribunal.
The tribunal hears cases where people feel they have been aggrieved by
the application or administration of regulations.
She is an Ottawa lawyer who was re-appointed this spring to another five
years as a vice-chairman of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural
Affairs Tribunal.
She presided over the contentious issue of single-desk marketing for
hogs; the tribunal dismissed an appeal by farmers who did not want the board to
abandon that power.
So far the national tribunal has not
been as busy as the much longer-serving Ontario tribunal.
