The Canadian Food Inspection Agency reports that the vast
majority of food it tested in the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2017, was safe.
It has posted
the National Microbiological Monitoring Program and Food Safety
Oversight Program Annual Reports on its website, showing that 99.5 per cent
of all food products tested during this fiscal year were compliant with
Canadian standards.
It reported that 99.8 per
cent of domestic products and 98.8 per cent of imported products were compliant.
The Food Safety Oversight results indicated that 99.8 per cent of all food met standards, with 99.9 per cent of domestic products and 99.8 per cent of imported products being compliant.
