The Ontario Broiler Hatching Egg and Chick Commission wants to establish an advisory committee to improve relations among its members, the Ontario chicken board and the main organization representing chicken processors.
The Ontario Farm Products Commission will be in charge of deciding whether to proceed and it said on its website that the proposals from the commission will remain on a government website until Nov. 23.
The commission said an advisory committee will provide “a forum to discuss sector issues, develop solutions, and promote greater efficiency in the producing and marketing of their commodity.”
Its proposal calls for the committee to be chaired by someone chosen by the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission and to have:
- Four members appointed by the Ontario Broiler Hatching Egg and Chick Commission.
- Three members appointed by the Chicken Farmers of Ontario marketing board.
- Three members appointed by the Association of Ontario Chicken Processors.
