How big is too big?
A while ago I posted a commentary on large-scale farms and how they play into a loss of public sympathy for farmers and farming practices.
And now I see in Ontario Dairy Farmer magazine that Riverview Farms LLC has 95,000 dairy cows in its business.
This business is made up of about 300 dairy farms of various sizes, but one of the larger ones is Meadow Star Dairy of Minnesota that has 9,500 cows on 160 acres.
Don't be surprised when the public is critical of this kind of farming.
