Rural Economic Development posts list

 

 

On Feb. 14, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced funding of nearly $800,000 for 18 projects.

Now the Rural Economic Development Corporation has posted the list of those projects.

East	The Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) will receive up to $70,000 to develop a virtual training program.
East	The Quinte Economic Development Commission will receive up to $47,600 to raise awareness of the regional manufacturing sector by creating company profiles, using print/digital/in-store advertising and creating a landing page to monitor job referrals.
East	The Pinnguaq Association will receive up to $31,850 to develop and deliver a series of free skills training workshops targeting rural business and entrepreneurs in the City of Kawartha Lakes and the First Nations of the Williams Treaty.
West	Middlesex County will receive up to $28,000 to create a marketing campaign promoting local food and the relationship between producers and restaurateurs, using billboard, print and digital advertising.
West	The County of Grey will receive up to $35,012 to attract/retain international workers in the rural Grey/Bruce region. The project will provide support for international students from Georgian College through information, mentoring and referrals/connections to community services and Grey/Bruce employers.
East	Canadian Organic Growers will receive up to $14,350 to host a series of business-to business (B2B) sessions for small to medium enterprise (SME) organic farmers in Eastern Ontario.
East	The Ontario East Economic Development Commission will receive up to $64,400.00 to implement a business readiness and investment plan, hire a consultant to generate leads, subscribe to site selection software and provide training to partners.
East	Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation and the City of Kawartha Lakes Economic Development Corporation will receive up to $47,390.00 to implement a three-pronged project that includes: 1) replacing the Kawartha Choice FarmFresh website; 2) producing a Local Food Assets & Needs Inventory, and 3) conducting virtual training in order to support food producers' and increase local food production, processing and demand.
West	The County of Huron will receive up to $74,900 to expand the Western Ontario Warden's Caucus database and asset mapping services with ConnectON by sharing farming, food processor and manufacturing business data to support the agri-food supply chain.
West	South Central Ontario Region (SCOR) Economic Development Corporation will receive up to $42,000 to connect current job search tools with transportation information and market those tools. This project would impact the Brant, Elgin, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Oxford regions.
Central	The County of Simcoe will receive up to $47,250 to develop and execute a pilot program and build awareness of industry 4.0 in the region.
Central	Asset Management Ontario (AMONTario) will receive up to $66,500 to introduce asset management concepts to 30 economic developers representing rural, northern, and Indigenous communities in order to better understand how to maximize potential investments and build economic development capacity.
Northeast	Temiskaming Native Women's Support Group (Keepers of the Circle) will receive up to $75,000 to hire four new staff to develop and support industry partnerships and to recruit and coach Indigenous women in non-traditional jobs throughout Northeastern Ontario.
Central	The Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) will receive up to $70,000.00 to implement a three-pronged project that includes: 1) community consultations and stakeholder needs assessment; 2) research activities, and 3) training, a best practices manual and toolkits to attract new businesses to rural Ontario and to assist with the expansion of existing rural businesses.
West	The Saugeen Economic Development Corporation will receive up to $19,250 to conduct a two-pronged project that consists of business attraction, expansion and retention as well as succession planning in response to rural economic development barriers.
Northeast	The Conseil de la coopération de l'Ontario will receive up to $44,100.00 to recruit and assist youth from Northern Ontario communities from job search to hiring, or with starting a collectively-owned business. The project includes personalized coaching for candidates and promotion through social and local media.
