Violife company is building a new facility in Brantford that will shift production of Becel margarine from Etobicoke to Brantford.
Brantford has issued an $18-million building permit for the 164,000-square-foot plant to be built on a 17.4-acre site on Craig Street.
The total investment will be greater because there will also infrastructure improvements and equipment.
The plant will employ 86 workers; some will likely transfer from Etobicoke.
And if all goes according to plan the new facility could be up and running by the end of this year.
