Walmart Canada is the first Canadian supermarket chain to embrace beef raised to the “certified sustainable” standard developed by the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef.
Walmart said it has lined up enough supply for its Your Fresh Market burgers.
The company didn’t say exactly how much of the certified beef it intends to buy, but said it’s enough to gain permission to have a sustainability certification label on all of its Your Fresh Market patties.
The beef must come from farms and ranches that comply with sustainable standards.
