Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau said she is “confident that (Hayes) will continue to be an asset to the commission and help the industry remain competitive, productive and innovative.”
Her term is four years and started Dec. 23.
She has been a CDC commissioner since January, 2017, so her elevation leaves two vacancies on the three-member commission.
Bob Ingratta was the chairman Hayes replaces; he was chief executive officer of the British Columbia milk marketing board.
The remaining commission member former Agropur president Serge Riendeau, had his term extended by Bibeau to this May, so Quebeckers now control the commission.
