New Zealand has filed a request to have a disputes-settling panel deal with its complaints about the way Canada is administering quotas for dairy products.
New Zealand filed its complaint in May, meetings in June failed to satisfy New Zealand so this week it applied to have a disputes-settling panel deal with the complaint.
The United States has also complained, Canada has made changes, but the Americans have not been fully satisfied.
New Zealand Trade Minister Damien O’Connor said “this is ultimately about ensuring that our exporters can access the benefits that were agreed under CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership).
“These were hard-won negotiated outcomes, and it is important that our exporters have confidence and certainty in their ability to enjoy them,” O’Connor said.
