Feds cut dairy research funding

The federal government has announced it will provide $7.5 million for the next five-year research budget, down from $11.6 million.

With inclusion of industry and other funding, the research budget will be $13 million, down from $16.5 milion.

Dairy Farmers of Canada said it will be funding 13 projects for:

Greenhouse gas reduction

Carbon sequestration

Addressing antimicrobial use and resistance and animal health

Genetic improvement

Innovation and eco-efficient dairy processing.
