Farmers are organizing a fund-raising tractor parade on Aug. 12 in support of Three Oaks Respite Cabin on the Bergsma family farm in Florence.
The cabin provides a mental health break for first responders in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.
The Bergsma family built the cabin in honour of their son who was a first responder who died of suicide.
"We decided there must be more families who are not aware of the struggles going on sort of right under their noses," said Diane Bergsma.
"Certainly, when we learned about these statistics, we couldn't do anything. We had to do something."he National Farmer Mental Health Alliance to provide self-directed programming while visitors are at the cabin.
