Treehouse is buying Canadian businesses from Smucker, including Bick’s pickles, Woodman’s horseradish, Habitant pickled beets and McLarens pickled onions.
Steve Oakland, chief executive officer of Treehouse, said the $20=million deal will boost its depth in “our growing pickles category, allowing us to expand into Canada and thus positioning TreeHouse for continued success.”
Smuckers closed Bick’s pickles in Ontario in 2011 to consolidate production in Wisconsin.
Smucker said the brands in the deal generated total net sales of about $60 million in its fiscal year ended last April 30.
