Saputo cheese voted best in Canada

Alexis de Portneuf La Sauvagine, made by Saputo Dairy Products Canada, was voted Best Canadian Cheese at the World Cheese Awards held 27-28 October at the Trondheim Spektrum, Norway. 

The World Cheese Awards is the world’s largest cheese-only event of its kind and drew 4,502 cheeses from 43 countries.


Alexis de Portneuf La Sauvagine is a soft, mould-ripened cheese with a supple rind, made with animal rennet and matured for 2 to 6 weeks.


Another Canadian company, Fromages CDA, was awarded Super Golds for its Mascotte and Magie de Madawaska cheeses.


Canadians won three Super Gold, six Gold, 10 Silver and 13 Bronze awards.
