About 250 union members at Agropur’s plant at Saint-Laurent in Montreal rejected a tentative deal their leaders made and went on strike this week.
Plant managers are handling the draining of milk from silos so it can be taken to other plants for processing.
“We are surprised by the decision, but what is important for us is to continue to discuss and resume activities as quickly as possible,” said Mylène Dupéré, vice-president of communications at Agropur.
