Tom Kane, president of the Ontario Dairy Council for 32
years, has announced his intention to retire in March.
He has worked for the council for 35 years, guiding its
milk-processing-company members through many negotiations with the marketing
board and with various government ministries which govern everything from
package recycling to labour management.
His experience and expertise became even more important when
the National Dairy Council collapsed more than a decade ago.
The board of directors will be meeting Sept. 6 and will
begin the process of identifying and hiring a new chief of staff to replace
Kane.
