Bailey aims to get tax credit for food donations
Bob Bailey is trying for a third time to persuade the Ontario legislature to adopt his bill that would grant farmers a tax break for donations they make to food banks.
The tax break would be particularly useful for fruit and vegetable growers who usually trash perfectly-nutritious food that can’t be sold because it’s visually less attractive.
Bailey proposes farmers get a charitable-donation receipt for 25 per cent of the value of their donations.
He’s a Progressive-Conservative member of the legislature for Sarnia-Lambton.
