European politicians want to know whether people can get
high on marijuana if they eat meat or dairy products from animals whose rations
include hemp.
The European Commission has asked the EFSA Panel on
Contaminants in the Food Chain to conduct a scientific study on the issue.
Europe limits the THC content – the active ingredient in marijuana
– to 0.2 per cent by volume in feed rations. That limits the amount of hemp
seed that can be incorporated in rations.
There is no mention by the Europeans about concerns that
animals might get high.
