The Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal has issued re-accreditation to all three
general farm organizations.
The Ontario
Federation of Agriculture, The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario and the
Ontario branch of the National Farmers Union all appeared for public hearings
in June.
This
re-accreditation went smoothly, a sharp contrast with the previous ones which
prompted the tribunal to deny re-accreditation to all three. Since then the
provincial government has changed and clarified the standards.
The tribunal has
written that all three “based on
the evidence filed and the submissions made . . . met all the prescribed
criteria for re-accreditation as a farm organization.”
It means
that they will be able to collect membership dues via annual renewals under the
Farm Business and Farm Organizations Funding Act.
