Subway sues CBC

Subway in Canada is suing the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. for $210 million, claiming it was defamed by the Marketplace show that said its chicken strips contain less than 50 per cent chicken.

CBC hired Trent University to conduct tests of fast-food restaurant chain products and said it was so surprised by the Subway chicken-strip results that it asked for the test to be repeated.

It says it stands behind its broadcast.

But Subway says it hired two independent firms to conduct tests of its chicken strips and they found they were entirely chicken, with the exception of a minute fraction of seasonings.
