Bonduelle
is paying $43 million to buy the Del Monte fruits and vegetables business from
Conagra Brands.
Bonduelle,
which is based in France, but has a number of packing and canning plants for
fruits and vegetables in Canada, said the deal does not include the facilities
Conagra uses to pack its Del Monte products for the Canadian market.
Bonduelle
says it can get by with its existing facilities and co-packing deals.
Bonduelle
is best known to Canadian shoppers for its Arctic Gardens, Graves and Bonduelle
brand names fror canned and frozen vegetables.
