Merck, which makes and markets livestock and poultry drugs, is buying Allflex Group, the leading producer of electronic ear tags popular for tracing the movement of livestock.
The acquisition of the Antelliq Group, formerly known as the Allflex Group, involves $2.47 billion cash for all of the company’s shares.
Merck will also assume Antelliq’s remaining debt which will be repaid after the acquisition closes.
Allflex had $407 million (360 million euros) worth of sales for the 12 month period ending Sept. 30.
SCR was acquired by the Allflex Groupthrough BC Partners in Dec. 2014. Then on Feb. 5, 2018, the group name was changed to Antelliq.
