Alberta has its first case of PED

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus has hit a 400-head hog operation in Alberta, the first case of the disease in that province.

Officials said it’s a farrow-to-finish operation and that the outbreak was reported to officials by the farm’s veterinarian.

No further details about ownership and tracing the source of the outbreak have been released.

Ontario had its 117^thcase reported this month.
