He takes over from Cathy Lennon who recently was hired as general manager for the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.
Robbins has been communications manager for the Pork Producers of Ontario marketing board and general manager of the Ontario Poultry Industry Council.
He begins his new duties with the 400-member board on Sept. 17.
It has been facing challenges from processors who have persuaded the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission to intervene to dismiss the board, appoint its own vice-chairman to handle contract negotiations, then oversaw a gradual return to an elected board of directors operating under the leadership of a commission-appointed chairman.
