Bayer AG said the United States Environmental Protection Agency has found no fault with glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide.
Glyphosate has come under attack as a cause of cancer, and courts have awarded millions of dollars in several lawsuits.
But Bayer said the EPA’s Interim Registration Review Decision concluded that it “did not identify any human health risks from exposure to glyphosate.”
The review took 10 years and involved reviews of all research related to the health and environmental safety of glyphosate.
There have been news reports that Bayer is considering taking Roundup off the market for all but farmers, reasoning that the lawsuits have involved gardeners and landscapers.
