Travel restrictions are making the pork shortage in China
even worse than the loss of half of the nation’s pigs to Porcine Epidemic
Diarrhea virus.
Pork prices in January were 116 per cent higher than a
year ago.
The travel restrictions are making it difficult to deliver
market-ready hogs to slaughter plants.
Chinese customers are also turning up their noses to
chicken and seeking pork, Reuters news agency reports.
