The Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission has amended regulations so tobacco growers can once again elect directors to the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers Marketing Board.
They have been appointed.
The board also gains the right to collect up to $4 per acre in registration fees.
The board long ago lost its power to restrict production and handle all tobacco sales, largely because illegal tobacco took over about half of the market so there was less for marketing board members to grow.
