Harry Pelissero will step down as general manager of Egg Farmers of Ontario on July 1, but will remain as a special advisor until he retires at the end of next year.
He will be used as an advisor as the board “will begin the process of reviewing its organizational structure,” said chairman Scott Helps.
"To say 2020 has been an interesting year would be an understatement," said Helps in a letter to all egg and pullet grower members of the marketing board.
Helps thanked Pelissero, writing that "his leadership, dedication and passion have helped make EFO what it is today."
Pelissero wrote that "I have appreciated the opportunity to serve and want to thank the Board and the staff at EFO for the many memories and friendships which have developed over the years.. I look forward to assisting in whatever way possible to make sure the infrastructure is in place for a successful EFO."
Pelissero was an outspoken manager who dominated meetings and was the single most important influencer of Ontario egg board policies for almost 19 years.
