Tribunal extends Francaphonie funding

L’Union des Cultivateurs Franco-Ontareins has gained approval to collect funding fees for three more years.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal released its decision, outlining what the organization has accomplished over the past three years to qualify for continued funding under the province’s  Farm Registration and Farm Organizations Funding Act.

Under that legislation, farmers who want government assistance need to register and pay an annual fee, but get to choose which farm organization should receive the money.

Four have qualified – L’Union, Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario and the Ontario Branch of the National Farmers Union.

There was nothing posted on the tribunal's website to indicate the review was underway. Usually that is done so the public has an opportunity to intervene.

Likewise, there is nothing on the website to indicate whether re-accreditation for the other three organizations is underway.
