Maple Leaf Foods reported an 8.1 per cent decline in revenues from its plant protein business, although after exchange rates with the United States dollar are factored in, the decline was 2.5 per cent to $42.5 6 million.
Profit from plant protein operations declined sharply from $6.8 million in the same quarter last year to $100,000 this year.
On the other hand, animal protein operations were robust, so the company’s sales total was up by 3.3 per cent to more than $1 billion, profits up by 5.6 per cent to $166 million.
