Chicken production to hold steady

The national agency for chicken is holding production steady for the six-week quota period from May 8 to July 2.

National allocation will be 3.5 per cent above base; Ontario’s will be 4.15 per cent above base at 72,626,093 kilograms.

The national agency said the Canadian economy continues to operate around pre-pandemic levels and the forecasted economic activity continues to be a leading factor for the A-176 (quota period) allocation.

Demand for chicken is projected to be strong as most pandemic related restrictions and capacity limits are lifted in the coming months, Chicken Farmers of Canada said.
